it's never been easier to be one.
But as traditional publishing opportunities shrink, independent publishing has exploded and is now a legitimate and, in many cases, preferable way to reach an audience. You retain complete control over the content and the look of your book, and thanks to technology and the Internet, there isn't much a publisher can do for you that you can't do for yourself, including distribution.
Established by former Wall Street Journal columnist and author Foster Winans in 1994, Prose & Pictures has been involved in the writing, editing, and publishing of more than three dozen books, the majority of which have been independently produced, and some of which have been sold to major houses such as HarperCollins and Random House. We ghostwrite or edit, design, and produce the book you'd write if you had the time, then help you use it to enhance your profession, business, or reputation; jumpstart a speaking career; or establish a legacy. We accept a limited number of projects each year, ranging from business and finance to self-help and memoir. In every case, we are the author's publishing partner through the entire process, making sure all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. Your success is our success. We approach each book expecting to feel as proud as you do of the final result.

What We Do
In traditional publishing, many are called but few are chosen. Most agents and editors will tell you that unless you're already well-known or have a built-in audience, it's never been harder to be chosen, it can take years to see your book in print, and you'll have to do most of the marketing because of slashed promotional budgets.
That's where we come in. Prose & Pictures provides a one-decision solution to authors in search of their audiences. From concept to marketing the finished book, we guide our clients through the complex process of creating a professional manuscript, designing an eye-catching book, and putting it to work to achieve their goals.
